WHAT’S LIGHTING YOU UP?

1

I sit, cosied up in my bed, whilst heavy rain splatters on outside and I’m comforted by the familiar feeling of this potent, high vibe, evening energy. I swear these nights hit me when I least expect them. I diligently make my way to bed early, after a pre 7pm dinner like the good little nanna I am, lay with a book until my eyelids start to feel heavy and I start to drift off into that blissful dreamy state. Then, just as Channing Tatum is about to get all Magic Mike up on me, I’m pulled awake by something and I am buzzing. Buzzing with excitement and ideas and joy and hope and optimism and energy and words. Oh the words, pourin’ out of me like nobody’s bidness. And I find myself drawn to this space, this online little corner o’ the world, and felt called to pour a little love and happiness out onto the page. So, if today’s post resonates with you, read on. If not, check back in later hombre.

// WHAT IS LIGHTING ME THE BLEEP UP //

+ Books : I, hand over heart, have purchased two books and downloaded an additional three kindle samples this evening. I’ve been mixing it up as of late, playing with new genres and themes and topics, and dippin’ my toe back in the fictional pool (when usually I am solely skinny dipping in non fiction waters). Latest additions? Meet Your Soul – because enlightenment and personal growth have been put on the back burner for way too long; and Lonely Planet’s Guide to Travel Writing – because I need these lessons in my nomadic little life.

+ Wild hair : Because when my hair is straight, I feel contained and serious and just a little too vanilla. Cue tousled curls and reckless abandon.

+ Work : Weird thing to say since most people declare their working hours to be their lowest and their jobs to be the bane of their existence. But I got a little somethin’ going on at work. I’ve rekindled that sweet connection with my clients, am so damn present within my sessions and am feeling very ‘purposeful’ in my engagement with them. And since what we do for work is usually how we spend most of our days, I’m counting my lucky stars that mine is making me so happy.

+ Podcasts : As of late, I’ve been racking up big hours and many kms in my new wheels as I flitter between my current digs and my old stomping grounds. I’m talking 5 plus hours, weekly, of driving. Which, if you read my most recent words on the blog, is absolutely ok with me because the commute and the between phase of travel is my jam. But I must admit, at 5:30am when you’re still a little hungover 24hours after a very large celebratory evening and your mind needs to be razor sharp and focussed, podcasts save me. Most recently I’ve hit up the Beautiful Writers’ Podcast – hosted by Danielle LaPorte and Linda Silvertson – which captures and shares 45min interviews with some of the planet’s best and most inspiring wordsmiths.

+ Plant based yummies : I love vegetables. I love fruit. I love nuts and seeds. I’m that weirdo that lights up over a kale salad and fresh juice in the same way that a child’s eyes glaze over when presented with the sweets table at his mates’ birthday party. I get that I’m an anomaly. However … zero fucks given. I love the way that plant based eating makes me feel, the feel good vibes it brings with the knowledge that I’m doing the planet some good and I love me the taste. Recently, a few friends have reached out, wanting to know more about the plant based way o’ things and it has rekindled my spark. Plants are epic, but plants shared between friends (and served with red wine) are even better.

+ Spontaneous rendezvous and getaways : I am less than 48 hours out from boarding a plane bound for the East Coast of this sensational little continent for a reunion with my twin flame and wanderlust ridden English bae. I couldn’t be more excited. We have a few days together which will see us travel from Melbourne CBD along Great Ocean Road and stopping wherever our hearts’ desire and soaking up every delicious bit of coastline that we can. The wild unknown is inspiring but the knowns (road trip gossip sessions, loud and distasteful music, so much coffee, so much wine, laughing til our tummies hurt, collaboratively dreaming and scheming …) are just as delightful.

+ Trust : It’s a fickle thing and often lost but the moment we reconnect with that undeniable universal truth that all is unfolding as it should, that is when life gets smoother, brighter, louder and much more fucking fun.

+ Workouts that make me want to throw up : I have always been so scared of anything that pushed me too hard and I mean that in every interpretable sense of the word – emotionally, physically, spiritually. So when it comes to workouts, I would often shy away from full on classes and opt for the gentle ‘go at your own pace’ kind of deal. Until recently. That place where you can feel your heart pounding, breath quickening and muscles aching – that’s where I’ve been hanging out lately. And it feels damn good. And I now have an ass that won’t quit – in both the RnB rap lyric sense and the inspirational ‘never give up’ fitness sense.

What’s lighting you up at the moment? And, here’s the kicker, how can you amplify the presence of these passion ignitors and make more space for them in your life? Everything in our lives has been cultivated by us, either directly/indirectly, intentionally/unintentionally, lovingly/absent mindedly – tune in and be aware of what you’re calling in.

Blessings and so much love and bliss (it’s actually ridic) x
