I’m currently a little bit bed and bathroom ridden so with lots of spare time of my hands, but alas no energy to do anything too strenuous or productive, I’m gettin’ my book worm on. At the moment I’m plugging away at – The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle; May Cause Miracles by Gabby Bernstein; 12 Steps to Wellness by Melissa Ambrosini and Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous by Esther Blum. Does anyone else share my multi-passionate approach to reading and have 2-4 books on the go at any one time?!
I have had Power of Now downloaded to the kindle for close to a year now, never really feeling it was the right time to delve in. But last weekend I thought ‘what the hey’ and jumped into it. Hooley dooley it is powerful. The first few chapters alone left me feeling significantly moved and I noticed that particular themes or teachings that Eckhart Tolle discussed would randomly pop into my mind throughout the day and completely resonate with the situation I was in. The most prevalent and profound message that the book is teaching me is the simple notion to encourage living in the present. Not worrying about what happened 5 years ago, 5 months ago, 5 weeks ago, 5 days ago, 5 hours ago or even 5 seconds ago. Not becoming anxious with what will happen in 5 seconds, 5 days, 5 weeks etc from now. All that matters is within this very moment, it’s such vital practice to make conscious effort to appreciate what is directly in front of you. The smells, colours, textures, sounds, sensations – everything. Take it in within each moment and you’ll feel more grateful, more grounded, more at peace and happier as a result.
Blessings from my sore tummy, messy surrounds, noisy puppy and all other things that make up my ‘present moment’ x
