Today’s theme is all about ‘peace’. It’s a word that’s thrown around a lot. It’s often heard during the interview sections of American Beauty Pageants (Gus: And what would your greatest wish be Tammy? Tammy: Well, it would be for *smiles, positions self at camera* World Peace); it’s used by our political and World leaders; it’s used by exhausted mothers who just want a little ‘peace and quiet’. But, at it’s truth, what does it mean?
According to Wikepedia – Peace is defined as “an occurrence of harmony characterised by lack of violence, conflict behaviours and the freedom from fear and violence.”
I like that, it sounds nice. But the thing I don’t like about it is it’s dependance on outside sources. I mean, we could be desiring peace, being activists for change and peaceful resolutions yet our neighbours could be violent little so and so’s. Does that mean for us, peace is unattainable? By the above definition, it kind of does.
In light of this, I much prefer focussing on the concept of ‘Inner Peace’ which Wiki defines as ‘a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress.’
Peace starts and ends with us. So, today I wanted to share a few ‘peace’ based images for you to peruse on this fuzzy little Friday. Enjoy, take in, breathe in and breathe out.
